The House of Bread is a bakery franchise with locations across the western United States. The Franchisor stipulates that each bakery has a signature mural in the dining area. The common denominator in each mural is the wheat fields, both planted and unplanted and a farm house structure. After meeting with Ben Gill, the owner of the bakery, we went with a simplistic folk art style of mural. Ben requested not just a barn, but a farm house as well. It was also important to him to incorporate a large windmill in the forefront of the picture. Since his store is located in Colorado, a mountain range was a natural addition. I painted a smaller prototype to scale so Ben could make adjustments, discuss colors, and become comfortable with direction of the art piece. This particular mural is 5 feet tall and 25 feet wide.
Ben was very pleased with the finished product: "The mural in our bakery has a real wow appeal. Customers love it and barely a day goes by that I don't receive a compliment on it. Cindy was a pleasure to work with and did a great job. I would recommend her to anyone looking for distinctive art.
