Creating a piece of art or designing furniture is fun, easy and rewarding. We’ll follow a process that ensures we’ll develop just exactly what you’re looking for – at no risk or obligation to you.

There are three primary steps:

1. First, I’ll meet with you to discuss what you’re looking for. We’ll briefly talk about the size of the piece that you envision, the colors and the setting in which it will be displayed. We’ll also consider the materials that will be most appropriate and likely do a rough sketch of the piece to make sure that we’re “on the same page.” There is no charge and no obligation for the consultation.

2. I’ll then do a mock up of the art that we envision (usually a miniature replica). We’ll then meet to review the mock up and discuss any changes that need to be made. I’ll redo the mock up as much as necessary to the point that you’re satisfied that it reflects what you’re looking for. There is no charge for the mock up and no obligation to proceed. I’ll provide you with a detailed cost and time estimate for the piece when the mock up is completed. If you elect to move forward I’ll collect 1/3 of the estimate at this time (primarily to secure materials).

3. Creating the finished art/furniture is the final step of the process. Once completed, I’ll make sure that you’re completely satisfied with the art and will make arrangements to do the final installation (if applicable) at your location.

The degree to which you are involved in creating your art is completely up to you. I can work closely with you or do most of the preparation “off line” and involve you only at key decision points. Either way, you’ll find the process of creating a piece to be fun, easy and very rewarding.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What type of materials do you use in creating your art?
The idea behind by art is that I make custom pieces. This means whatever medium is appropriate for the job. I can build your furniture from wood from scratch, or rework an existing piece – adding and subtracting as needed. Artwork can be on canvas, walls, paper, wood…the possibilities are endless. Three dimensional pieces are always fun. Pictures can be designed to have some element actually projecting from the base piece.

Is there a size limit to your projects?
No – I’ve created customized 6 inch plaques and hand painted 25 foot murals.

How do you handle long distance projects?
While I live in Niwot, Colorado, there are many ways to communicate long distance. If a face-to-face meeting cannot be arranged, we can talk and exchange photos via telephone, email, fax or regular mail.

How long do projects take?
Once we start, a typical project takes about 2-4 weeks. Obviously, larger and more complicated projects may take a bit more time.

How does the process work?
I have developed a 3 step process that results in you getting exactly the art piece that you want - all at no risk or obligation to you until we have a concept that meets your needs. Please see The Design Process above for more information.

How does payment work?
There is no obligation to meet and discuss the scope of the project. After that, I’ll develop a mock up of the piece for your review and – again – there is no charge for this. After we agree on the concept through a mock up and come up with an estimate for the project, I’ll collect 1/3 of the estimated cost (primarily for the materials) and the remainder when the project is completed to your satisfaction.

Is your art/furniture expensive?
Actually, most of my clients are surprised at how affordable it is. It’s impossible to know the cost of a project until we get into the details, but I strive to make my art highly affordable.
